Raj Kumar Kanojia (36), received his iPhone 3G at 12.15 am today and became the first person in Mumbai to own the phone. The excited man spent all of last night leafing through the phone manual and twiddling with the phone. But he did it in the loo.

That's because his wife, who has absolutely no interest in gadgets forbade him to use the phone at any other place inside the house. "My wife, Rajshri, never allows me to check any gadget in any other place, but the toilet. I had to use the toilet when I bought the new N73 too.

But I don't mind as I'm used to it and naturally I don't want to disturb my wife," said Kanojia, an actor from Jogeshwari. Said Rajshri, "I dislike these gadgets because he spends a bomb on them and I cease to exist. Everything's about the phone and he ignores me."

Kanojia had to wait for 10 hours to get his hands on the 16 GB phone (Rs 36,100) at Infinity mall in Andheri yesterday. The actor who was at the mall at 2 pm called his wife and asked her to come over.

The phone was launched at the stroke of the midnight hour and handed over to Kanojia 15 minutes later by K Srinivas, Executive Director, Airtel.

For Kanojia, the phone is more than an investment. "I can save my pictures, access the Internet and it will certainly help me professionally," he grinned, holding his new purchase close to his heart literally and figuratively.
