SEAN D'SOUZA'S lone goal saved St Stanislaus (Bandra) the blushes and won them three points over arch-rivals Don Bosco (Matunga) in the play-offs of the Nike-MSSA U-16 Div I inter-school football tournament at Azad Maidan on Saturday.

After two failed attempts in the first and sixth minute, Sean tried again in the ninth minute and found the net after through pass from Daniel Samuel. Bosco striker Rickin Dang had two chances in the 15th and 16th minute to level the score, but was thwarted by goalkeeper Keenan Burroughs. Bosco's Curtis Nazareth made a final attempt at the end of the first half but failed.

In the second half, Bosco created more chances but they couldn't take advantage. Bosco's Mervyn Stephen tried in the sixth minute but it was hit out by the defender. Rickin tried again in the ninth minute to score of Richard Aglem's cross but was stopped by Keenan.

Stanislaus' strong defence thwarted most of Bosco attempts to score. Wayne Vaz made a desperate attempt in the dying moments but it hit the cross bar.
