In the line of fire: The bodies of Manoj and Rekha

The father of the elite National Security Guard commando, who was killed along with his wife on Saturday night, was attacked by unidentified assailants three days before the killings.

However, the police did not register an FIR and bother investigate the incident, the family and neighbours of the commando have alleged.

The 30-year-old commando, Manoj Kumar, and his wife Rekha were found dead in a field in Joniawas village in Gurgaon.

Bodies found

A passerby found the bodies at about 5:30 am on Sunday morning. Manoj had come a day before on leave from the NSG campus to his village.

The couple had gone

somewhere but when they did not return home, the family members started searching for them but to no avail.
"Three days back some unknown people attacked me late night. When I shouted for help they fled.

I went to the police but they refused to file an FIR. I have lost one of my two sons just because of the careless police," said Lal Singh, Manoj's father.

"Had the police acted on time, this would not have happened," said Vidyanand, sarpanch of Joniawas
village.

Police inaction

The villagers protested against the police and alleged that the police team reached the spot three hours after they were informed.

"We are investigating and would be able to nab the culprits soon," said Mohinder Lal, commisioner, Gurgaon Police.
