Threat e-mail sent from Khalsa college
By: Divyesh Nair

Mumbai:

The threat e-mail to the police's special branch and media houses on Saturday was sent by hacking into the WiFi connection of the chemistry laboratory of Khalsa College, Matunga.

The e-mail mentioned that between August 25 and 28 there would be a series of bomb blasts across the city and that Hindu, Sikh and Christian religious places will be targeted along with missionary schools. The mail was traced to the IP address of the Wifi router installed in the chemistry laboratory of Khalsa College.

According to college sources, the Wifi router was installed in the laboratory for a high-level research.  It is not known if someone from within the college sent the mail as a prank.

An Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) team visited the college yesterday to confiscate the router. But a student from the college said, "We have 12 computers in the laboratory and one Wifi connection, but I am sure it would be password protected."

Additional commissioner of Police (ATS) Parambir Singh said, "We are investigating the case further." Interestingly, the WiFi connection of American national Ken Haywood was hacked to send a threat e-mail just before the Ahmedabad blasts.
