The police and the dog squad reached the spot at 7.30 pm, checked the scooter, they found wires and a firecracker, but no bomb. After sustained questioning, the police realised that Manthora was mentally unstable and had put the bomb-making contraptions himself to create panic.
Senior police inspector of Dadar police station, Madhukar Sankhe, said, "His family confirmed he was mental unstable." He told the police that he had seen two men planting the 'bomb' and when he intervened they attacked him with a knife and escaped.
Sankhe said, "He is making up stories. If he was attacked, he would have had injuries, which he doesn't. His wife revealed that he had bought the firecrackers and the wires. We are still questioning him and have not arrested him."
