ADELAIDE:

Sheer pace: Brett Lee

Australia speedster Brett Lee ran through the New Zealand top order this morning claiming four wickets as the visitors slumped to 83 for five at lunch, trailing by 182 runs on Day Four of the second Test in Adelaide.

New Zealand began the fourth day 230 runs behind and were taken aback by Lee's pace as he captured four wickets in a stunning 10-over spell that cost 23 runs.

Lee first got opener Aaron Redmond (19), who looped one to Michael Clarke at point off the second ball of the morning. No 3 man Jesse Ryder (3) then pushed at a wide delivery only for Andrew Symonds to pocket him at forward point.

Just three runs later, Ross Taylor (1) gave the Australia paceman a return catch which he made no mistake of. Lee's fourth scalp of the morning was opener Jamie How (28), taken splendidly by skipper Ricky Ponting, who was at full stretch and grabbed it with one hand at second slip.

Mitchell Johnson replaced Lee and got the wicket of Daniel Flynn in his first over as the batsman shuffled across his stumps and was adjudged leg-before for 9.

At lunch Fulton had spent 48 balls in making 7 while the wicketkeeper Brendon McCullum was 1.

Yesterday Australia wicketkeeper Brad Haddin silenced his critics as he got to his maiden Test century going on to score a mammoth 169 on Day Three.
