Finds Urvashi Seth as she takes a train to CST yesterday. On terror Wednesday, 55 commuters were gunned down at the station
I boarded the 8.15 am CST-bound local train from Thane yesterday and found to my surprise, it was eerily empty. Nobody fought for seats, nobody screamed or abused each other.
Instead, the women sat quietly reading newspapers and if they did talk, it was a serious discussion on the terror attacks. And yes, nobody slept. I also saw two hearing and speech impaired boys interacting on what else, but the terror attacks.
When I began reading the MiD DAY, a woman next to me murmured, "Saara newspaper terror attack ke news se bhara pada hai. I am really nervous about alighting at CST now."
At CST, instead of making a dash for the exits, commuters stopped and took pictures of the bullet-scarred columns near platform No 7.
Commuters speak I was very nervous about coming to work. My office is near the Oberoi Trident. But I have no choice. -Anuradha Mahajan HR executive
I was fortunate that I boarded the 9.15 pm train that day, or I too could have been a victim. Now all you can see is fear in everyone's eyes. -Jai Krishnan R Executive
I lost a staffer in Wednesday's terror attack. I expected customers today since the tragedy is over, but there is no business. -Rajaram Welwande Newspaper stall owner
