MELBOURNE: Former Australia cricketer Paul Hibbert who was found dead in his Essendon flat in Victoria last week, suffered an internal haemorrhage, possibly related to alcoholism, according to Fox Sports.

"It was a sad and lonely end to a long, losing battle. Hibbert died despite cricket's best efforts to help him get a life derailed by family, business, illness and lifestyle problems back on track," a report said.

Hibbert played one Test against Bishan Singh Bedi's Indians in 1977-78 after he scored a hundred against the tourists for Victoria in the lead-up tho the series.

His son Daniel said that his father was believed to have been suffering from depression too.
