M S Ramaiah Medical College received a hoax call that created panic among students and faculty.
The college authorities received the call at around 11 am, saying a bomb had been placed in the premises. The police quickly responded and a bomb diffusion squad with sniffer dog arrived at the spot immediately, only to realize it was a hoax.
The students had already left their classrooms and all academic activities for the day had been disrupted by the time the college authorities learnt it was a hoax call.
Police have appealed to people not make hoax calls. But at the same time they have asked people to alert police in case they chance upon anything suspicious.
