Pakistan has said that it has not received any request for legal assistance from Mohammad Ajmal Qasab, the lone terrorist arrested for carrying out the Mumbai terror attacks.
Defence Minister Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar said the Pakistani High Commission in India has not received any letter of request from Qasab asking for legal assistance.
The stand was echoed by Minister for Information Sherry Rehman, who also said that India was yet to share any information on the origins of the Mumbai attackers with Pakistan.
Indian authorities were earlier quoted as saying that Qasab had written a letter to the Pakistani High Commission seeking legal assistance. Pakistan has denied that Qasab is a citizen of the country though his father told the media that the attacker was his son. |
