Caught in a compromising position with her lover, a woman allegedly killed her husband at Mehrauli in south Delhi on Tuesday.
The 26-year-old victim, Harish Chander, was beaten to death by his wife Geeta and her lover Ajay alias Vinod, who was their neighbour, at his rented house in Ghittorni village early on Tuesday morning. Chander used to run a roadside eatery.
"Fearing arrest, Geeta planted a story. She called up the police control room in the morning and said that two unidentified men, who had accompanied her husband to their home for a drink, had allegedly killed Chander after a heated argument," the police said.
"However, after intense interrogation she broke down and confessed to have killed Chander with the help of her lover," said a police officer.
Allegedly, the victim had seen Geeta in a compromising position with Vinod. "After Chander saw Geeta with her lover, a fight broke out among them and the couple attacked the victim with a heavy object. They then clobbered him to death," the police added.
Geeta and Vinod have been arrested. "We have registered a case of murder against them," the police said.
