A police raid on a dance bar at 1 am today led to the recovery of Rs 11.29 lakh and the arrest of nine bar girls. The social service branch of the Mumbai police also arrested the manager and cashier of Star-night bar in Santacruz.
"The bar is said to be very high profile, with several rich and celebrity customers," said R. R. Joshi, senior police inspector, Social Service branch.
"We were tipped off that the bar was kept open till late in the night and had dancers. We sent in fake customers to verify the information. After they confirmed that the allegations were true, our officers raided the premises. We saw the customers showering money on the dancers," said Joshi.
The owner of the bar is still on the run, added Joshi. |
