 | | Out Of Danger: Pallavi’s husband Khalid says she had consumed sleeping pills | Traumatised by the rumours of her having an affair with her client Abu Salem, lawyer Pallavi Asher Almas Ansari tried to commit suicide on Tuesday.
Pallavi, who consumed sleeping pills, alleged that her former employer Ashok Sarogi was behind the rumours and blamed him for pushing her into taking such a drastic step.
Pallavi, who is out of danger now, said, “I am tired of this rumour.
Wherever I go, people ask me about my alleged relationship with Salem.
Both my professional and personal life has been affected. Sarogi has made my life miserable. How can any woman tolerate her character being questioned?”
Pallavi’s husband, Khalid, said, “She was disturbed over the rumours, but I never thought she would take such a step. Even on the day she attempted suicide, I did not find her behaviour suspicious.”
“Sarogi’s behaviour has surprised us. He was the one who told Pallavi to handle Salem’s case, but he could not take it when Salem told Pallavi to handle his case alone. We have not said anything till now, but now, I am not going to keep quiet,” he added.
Khalid continued, “I trust my wife. It’s very humiliating to hear the rumours about her. My two sons are traumatised.”
Meanwhile, the Ghatkopar police have registered a case of attempted suicide against Pallavi and another against Sarogi and four others for instigating her to commit suicide.
In her statement, Pallavi has said that Sarogi tortured her mentally by spreading rumours of her affair. “Pallavi has said she took this step because of Sarogi,” said investigating officer Fulsing Pawar.
“We are investigating the matter. Necessary action against Sarogi will be taken. We will also record Salem’s statement,” added Pawar.
