Two robberies within half an hour took the East district police by surprise yesterday. In the first incident, a businessman at Mandawli was robbed of Rs 2.5 lakh and in the second, a doctor was robbed of his car.
Fled away
According to the police, at around 10.45 pm, four armed men barged into the house of Narender Chawla (32) and tied him before fleeing away with cash and jewellery worth Rs 2.5 lakh. Chawla is a resident of Rohtak but has been staying at Mandawli for the last few months.
In another incident, just 20 minutes later, a doctor was robbed of his Honda
City in front of the Victor Public School. Dr Vijay Arora, a resident of IP Extension, had come out of his hospital when four unidentified men riding motorcycles intercepted his car and forced him to come out at gunpoint. Then, they fled away with the car.
Dr Arora is a medical practitioner at the Balaji Max Hospital.
Same gang
According to the police, the two complainants had described the accused as men wearing masks with knives and country-made pistols. “It seems that the two robberies are the handiwork of the same people. We have registered a case and further investigations are on,” said a police official.
