PIC/SAMEER MARKANDE |  | Actress Huma Khan was arrested yesterday along with her cousin Samiuddin Sheikh for the kidnapping, rape and assault of her 12-year-old maid Kavita Rao (name changed).
MiD DAY spoke to Kavita, who has been admitted to Thane Civil Hospital.
“My mother and I used to work at Huma’s house in Mira Road. I used to do some cleaning and would take care of her dog. In June 2007, Huma took me to her new house in Pune without informing my parents. I was allowed to talk to my parents once in two months.
After a few days there, Huma started coming home late and would beat me under the influence of alcohol. I was given meal only at night. She often locked me inside the bathroom.
In October, Samuiddin visited her Pune house. One day, Huma sent him to the bedroom and later forced me to go there, and then Samuiddin molested me. When I started shouting, he locked me in the bathroom. After some time, he came in with a heated knife and burnt my tongue. I was unable to speak
for a month.
Samuiddin came to Pune every 20 days and raped me. But he contacted my family and said I was fine.
On January 23, Samuiddin informed my family that I had met with an accident and my hand got burnt, as he wanted me to go back to my parents.
The next day, around 5 pm, he put me in a Pune-Mumbai bus. I was dropped somewhere in Mira Road. I managed to find my house by asking people. Around 9 pm, I reached home. After I told my parents what had happened to me, I was admitted to the hospital.” |
