Los Angeles: Britney Spears has left a note reading: “Perhaps it would be better if I was dead.”
A friend found the letter, which revealed the pop star’s fears that she cannot live up to the expectations of her family and fans, in her bathroom after she was rushed to a hospital earlier this month, following a child custody dispute.
The 26-year-old suffers from manic depression and possibly multiple personality disorder, a source close to the singer told British newspaper The Sun.
The source said, “The letter was very sad. Britney talked about her loneliness, how unfair life is and not being able to trust people.
She wrote about how she will never be what people want her to be.
According to the source, the friend, who thought the letter a “cry for help”, confronted Spears about it, but she laughed it off.
“Everybody thinks about death,” she reportedly said.
