 | | bridging gaps: Work on the Bandra-Worli Sea Link is expected to be completed by May this year. pic/vishal kelkar | T Chandrashekhar, the chief executive of Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA), has approached senior NCP leaders, with a request that he be posted as the chief of the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC).
In return, Chandrashekhar has promised that the Bandra-Worli sea link and the Nhava-Sheva link would be completed very fast.
The NCP would stand to gain credit if Chandrashekhar keeps his promise. Chandrashekhar had earlier drawn severe flak from Congress leaders after he hiked the prices of MHADA flats on the basis of the rates mentioned in the MHADA’s ready reckoner.
Mumbai Regional Congress Committee president Gurudas Kamat is scheduled to hold a meeting of the party MPs, MLAs and top office bearers to “discuss action against the bureaucrat” on February 4.
Congress sources say Chandrashekhar’s unilateral decision to hike the price of MHADA flats may come up for discussion at the meeting.
Congress workers are also expected to acquaint CM Vilasrao Deshmukh with the feelings of party workers in Mumbai on Chandrashekhar’s move at the meeting.
Hoardings have sprung up all over the city congratulating both Deshmukh and Kamat for taking action against Chandrashekhar.
A highly placed Mantralaya official said that if the MSRDC deal does not work out, Chandrashekhar might be offered a deputation in Delhi.
Chandrashekhar declined to comment. |
