MiD DAY remembers
It's been nearly two years, but each time I pass Matunga Road station, I'm forced to remember that terrible day. I was travelling in the second class compartment of a Virar-bound local and planned to move to the first class at Bandra. But as soon as the train reached Matunga, the bomb went off.
There was smoke everywhere and I heard people scream. I thought the overhead wire had snapped and I yelled at people asking them to calm down.
The train had stalled, so I jumped off and saw there was chaos along the tracks. I made my way to the first class compartment and saw that it was blown apart.
Just 40 seconds after the blast, I began shooting pictures and in five minutes, I had shot 80 frames. After the initial shock, everybody was running to help the victims; I took photographs for their today and a better tomorrow.
