Bangalore: Suma G (29), a resident of Malleswaram, was saved by shoppers when she was attacked by her husband at a mall.
She was out shopping with her mother and sister when she noticed her husband with a girl and decided to confront the two. "When I asked her about her relationship with Sanjay, she replied saying that she was going to marry him in a few days," Suma reportedly told the police.
"I tried explaining to her that Sanjay was not yet divorced and asked her not to talk to him," she added.
Ugly turn
Soon, an argument ensued between Suma and the girl. Suma asked the girl for her parent's phone number so she could presumably inform them about their daughter's involvement with her husband.
The argument took a turn for the worse when Sanjay and the girl allegedly attacked her and tore her clothes. They supposedly even slapped Suma and tried running her over with the bike they were riding. In this chaos, the mother and sister were left at the mall.
Passers by came to Suma's rescue and took her to the local police station.
Bitter separation
Suma and Sanjay were married in 2003. They were separated after a year of marriage due to a family row. Suma had filed a case against Sanjay, a businessman from Doddaballapur, in the family court. The case is still pending trial.
The Malleswaram police have taken up a case of assault and restraint against Sanjay and the girl.
