This is one car you may want to beg, borrow, or steal a chance, if not buy, to sit in the driver's seat. With all its classic looks comes the clincher. At a time when fuel prices are on the rise, Audi A4, launched yesterday, drives 17 km to a litre of diesel and 12 km to a litre of petrol.

Priced at Rs 36 lakh, this sedan is complete with thermal imaging and a dashboard screen that displays satellite-enabled maps. "It lights up warm objects ahead of the car up to 300m, twice as far as the headlights, and helps the driver avoid pedestrians and more importantly cows," Audi India's managing director Benoit Tiers said.

"We plan to launch more luxury models in the Indian market, including the small car A3 at an appropriate time," he said.

Smart car

>>Bi-Xenon headlights are the most powerful in India

>>Equipped with Quattro permanent four-wheel drive that also makes an off terrain driving smoother

>>A DVD-compatible screen in the dashboard provides satellite-enabled maps

>>Heads-up display, where floating letters are projected on to the windshield by lasers, so you can see your speed and directions without having to look down at the guages.
