Eminent filmmaker Mrinal Sen was felicitated with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 10th edition of the Osian's Cinefest Film Festival 2008.


For him, awards represent a challenge to do something more everytime.


Sen is one of the most accomplished directors in Bengal, with Satyajit Ray and Ritiwik Ghatak, pioneering the 'New Wave cinema' in India with his film 'Bhuvan Shome'(1969),


The Lifetime Achievement award in Osian has been constituted for the first time and Sen is the first director to be honored.


After accepting the award Sen said, "I feel very happy but I don't know whether I deserve this award or should I do some more to satisfy the people who have given me the award."


"Though I receive this award with all the dignity and I am very happy to receive it, but it makes me a bit uncomfortable," he added.


Other awards presented to Sen prior to the Osian honor are, the Padma Bhushan and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, plus the French Government's Commander of the Order of Arts and Letters award.
