Thane, Mulund, Bhandup may face no power cuts
By: Shashank Rao

Mumbai:

If all goes well today, Thane, Mulund and Bhandup may be the chosen ones where power companies enforce zero load shedding. Tata Power Trading Company Ltd (TPTCL) plans to eliminate a deficit of 175 Mw in these areas by providing electricity when they procure additional power.

The power companies will know the state of affairs today after they procure the required electricity of 325 Mw. Assam, HP, UP, West Bengal and Gujarat are being approached for additional power, as they have been receiving regular rainfall.

Chances of Thane, including Bhandup and Mulund, enjoying zero load shedding are more compared to Navi Mumbai and Pune.

Thane has a shortfall of just 75 Mw in comparison to Navi Mumbai and Pune, which fall short by 100 Mw and 150 Mw respectively.

An official from TPTCL said, "We are looking at relieving Thane first as soon as we procure the power."

According to the official, if TPTCL manages 100 Mw from other sources, they will provide 75 Mw to Thane and the remaining 25 Mw to Navi Mumbai. Their earlier plan was to distribute power equally among all places.

Last week, the CM said that the state is trying to get at least 350 Mw from the national grid.
