The police arrested Hemant Jain (27), a businessman and his paramour, Parvin Khan (23), for strangulating Hemant's fomer partner Suraiya (55) in a hotel room at Hyderabad.

According to the police, Hemant is a resident of Malad and Suraiya was a close friend of a film producer. After the death of Suraiya's producer companion in 1999, she fell for Hemant and started living with him. Initially, Hemant liked her, but later the age difference between the two became a cause of endless feud and anguish.

"Suraiya had employed Parvin as domestic help. Parvin hailed from Delhi and soon came close to Hemant. The two developed physical relations and plotted to eliminate Suraiya," Neeraj Thakur, DCP (Crime), said.

On June 21, Hemant took the two women to Hyderabad on the pretext of some work and rented a room in a hotel in Nampally. After midnight, the duo first assaulted Suraiya and then strangulated her with a dupatta and left the hotel around 5 am without their luggage. The hotel staff saw Suraiya's body on June 23 and informed the police.

After murdering Suraiya, the two fled to Mumbai, then went to Jaipur and Ahmedbad. They came to Delhi, as Parvin had to receive money from someone.

On Sunday, the police spotted the duo in Shakti Vihar, where they had gone to meet someone. They were arrested by the police on Sunday afternoon.

Hemant is originally from Udaipur, Rajasthan, and was residing with Suraiya in Malad before her murder.
