A mother-daughter duo of Indian-origin have both graduated with the same degree from the same university in London.
Birmingham-based Amrat Bhogal (43) and Gurpreet (21), both completed their three-year BSc optometry degree at the Aston University.
They sat together during lectures and worked together during the course.
"I am proud that my family came from India, proud to be a woman and proud to be Asian," said Amrat, after receiving her degree.
She now plans to work as an optician with her husband at their shop in Birmingham while Gurpreet has a job with another optician nearby.
Gurpreet said: "My mum and I are like sisters, rather than mother and daughter, so I didn't feel uncomfortable about us taking the same course together."
Amrat said she and Gurpreet did not plan to enroll on the same course together at the same time - "it just happened like that".
