On ASSIGNMENT: Free lunch provided by a Congress party leader at Akbar Road (L), Media persons in front of H D Devegowda's residence (R)

With only less than 24 hours remaining for the United Progressive Alliance government to prove its majority in the Lok Sabha, the power centers of both the government and the opposition were abuzz with hectic political activity.

Outside the Congress headquarters at the Akbar road, the media and the security persons could be seen enjoying the lunch offered by the local Congress activists. Media persons, who had a field day covering the political activities from one party headquarters to the other, were seen enjoying the halwa and aaloo poori. "The halwa was the major attraction in the menu today", said a cameraperson of a TV channel.

At Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh's house, the security personnel and scribes were seen sitting inside the tents erected by the SP activists. "The tent with the fans in it is a big relief for us. We have been waiting outside political leaders' house since morning and this has provided the much needed relief," said a journalist.

At Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister's Mayawati's residence, who has emerged as the latest power center in the Delhi, media was waiting outside expecting major political leaders along with breakaway SP MPs to arrive. With every vehicle coming towards her house, the activity increased in expectation of a new MP coming to support the BSP supremo.

Surprisingly, there was not much activity outside Bhartiya Janta Party's prime ministerial candidate Lal Krishna Advani's house. Things were looking very calm at Prithviraj Road's fortified residence of the PM in waiting.

At former Prime Minister H D Devegowda's house on Safdarjung Road, also, there was not much activity after he had announced that he would vote against the UPA government.
Surprisingly residence of Sukhbir Singh Badal was abuzz with activity as the Akali leaders were busy in meetings to decide about the  vote tomorrow. Though the Akali Dal has decided to vote against the confidence motion.
