RECOVERING: Supratim is lilely to dischargre next week |
"We have detached the nasal tube. His blood pressure is normal and he has no fever. Dutta is on complete liquid diet and has started moving around in the ward corridor," Dr Sushma Sagar, who had operated on him and is supervising, told MiD DAY.
Dutta, the 23-year-old software executive who survived after a five feet iron rod pierced his body, also read a newspaper and took a bath on Sunday.
After the operation, the doctors were in doubt about the chances of infection as seven of his vital organs were damaged in the accident. However, on Sunday, doctors said that he had recovered and there were no sign of infections.
Dr Sagar said, "We have not observed any infections. He has started walking in the wards. On Saturday, he shaved also. He talks to us and is normal. We are keeping him under observation and will hopefully discharge him in next week."
Supratim, who mainatained his consciousness even after the iron rod went through his body and called for help, is now practicing breathing exercises at the hospital. Dr Sagar also added that his intestines had recovered well as he had passed his motions.
"He is a brave boy and has recovered well," she added.
On July 12, Supratim, an HCL employee who was on his way to his Gurgaon office met with an accdent. The driver of the car, in which he was travelling lost control and hit the Metro barricades on Mehrauli-Gurgaon Road in Delhi.
The impact was such that a five-foot-long and two inches wide iron angle pierced through the bonnet, then the dashboard and passed through his body. Surprisingly he did not panic and informed his relatives about the accident who later reached the spot and rushed him to AIIMS Trauma Centre.
