Motorcycle-borne
The two, identified as Safiq (38) and Atiq (28) who were on their way to the Lal Bagh, Subzi Mandi were gunned down by four motorcycle-borne people near the Gola factory.
The accused fled away from the scene taking the cash and some other document of the victims.
Trading business
Victim's father Rafiq, said, "Atiq was riding the bike while Sadiq was the pillion rider. Both of them were on their way to Subzi Mandi, where we run a potato trading business. The bikers fired once but missed in their first attempt. The second bullet fired by them hit Safiq's back and he fell down."
"The bikers then tried to snatch their bag containing Rs.10,000 and some documents including an account register. When Atiq tried to stop them, they pumped three bullets inside his body," Rafiq added.
A family friend of the victims, who was passing by the same road spotted both the brothers lying unconcious on the ground. Rafiq said, "I received a call from Khurshid who informed me about the two. He also informed the PCR after which they were rushed to the hospital." The two were later taken to the Guru Teg Bahadur hospital where their condition is said to be critical.
Personal enmity
The police sources said that the involvement of the biker gang was unlikely. Moreover it seemed that the attack was a result of personal enminity. "
Past incidents
"Earlier in 2006, there was a robbery in the victim's house. Out of five accused, two were arrested and three are still absconding. That case is still under trial and we suspect the involvement of the same three absconding accused. Further investigation is going on," said a senior police official.
