Crime graph shoots up

Noida: Noida has registered steep rise in the crime rate in the last few days. With an increasing number of recent incidents by motorcycle-borne assailants, the residents apprehend the presence of a bikers gang in the area.

The residents allege that the rise in crime graph is mostly due to the lackadaisical attitude of the police and law and order machinery.

Rejecting the involvement or presence of a bikers gang, Noida SSP R K Chaturvedi said, "Some local gangs are carrying out robberies and loots. The biker's gang generally carry pistol and shoot at their targets but this was not seen in any of the cases."

Recently, two people on a motorcycle robbed a private company employee of Rs 3.5 lakh near Rajnigandha chowk. Her associate Atul alleged that despite repeated calls, the police did not respond. SSP Chaturvedi, however, denied the allegations. "There was a constable nearby but he wasn't informed about the incident. He first told one of his friends regarding this incident and then only he called the police," the SSP added.

The SSP was also defensive about the incident in which a media professional was robbed of his mobile phone near the Rajnigandha Chowk.
