Sunita Panjwani with husband

A resident of Rajouri Garden has alleged that Rs 7.5 lakh in cash, which were robbed from her and later recovered by the cops, have not been returned to her.

Robbed

Sunita Panjwani was robbed of Rs 7.5 lakh, while going to shop with her daughter on Thursday evening. "Two Scooter borne youths, who were in their early twenties snatched my purse at around 7:45 pm.

We took a rickshaw as our car was parked at a distance. As I was climbing the rickshaw, some men came and tried to snatch my purse which I had given to my daughter.

When she resisted the purse fell on the ground. They took it away and disappeared in the main market. Besides cash,  there was a mobile and a gold chain in my purse," Panjwani said.

The victim immediately made a call to PCR informing about the incident. "I did not mention that purse was carrying so much money," Panjwani added.

Later Panjwani registered a complaint at the Rajouri Garden police station. "We were sitting in the police station, when  one Dharmendra Khatri, who identified himself as a  constable with the Delhi police, called me up on my mobile and said that robbers have been caught.

I congratulated him and said that purse was carrying some cash. You come to Rajouri Garden Police station I will give you a reward," Panjwani stated in her complaint.

After two minutes, Khatri again called up and said that they have not caught anybody. If the police get hold of them, she will be informed, Panjwani added.

Constable's statement

After reaching the police station, Khatri made statement that he called her up to ask her whereabouts and inform that robbers have not been caught . He also refused that he had made second call to her, Panjwani alleged.

Contradictory facts

When contacted, Station House officer Rajouri Garden Police Station, Laxmi Narayan said they  received the complaint from the Sunita Panjwani but there are some contradictoryry facts in it.

"In her PCR call she said that she has left her bag in an auto-rickshaw. However, now she is saying that they were riding on a cycle rickshaw, " Laxmi Narayan said.

"The call from the police personnel was made to check about her whereabouts. They did not find her at the place from where she had made the call. Secondly, as alleged by her, the police personal did not made any second call," said Laxmi Narayan.
