Ward in Civil Hospital bombed
By: A Correspondent

Ahmedabad:
The bloodied floor of the Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad, where one of the blasts took place
"Please tell the Ahmedabad police to help us. There has been a bomb blast in our trauma ward where the blast victims are treated. We cannot reach them. Phone lines are jammed. The trauma ward of the Civil Hospital has been ripped apart." This is what the superintendent Dr MM Achalia of Ahmedabad's only government hospital told us.

Victims were shifted again to another part of the hospital. Around five government and private hospitals in Ahmedabad were attending to victims of the serial bomb blasts that rocked the city on Saturday evening. The hospitals that were caught unaware by the sudden blasts were not equipped to handle the blast victims. There was shortage of staff and other amenities like beds and blood.
