According to S Kunjuraman, Kantrole's lawyer, Dr Malini has been asked by the court to depose in a murder trial since January 23. However, despite nearly 13 reminders she has not deposed before the court, resulting in a bailable warrant being issued against her.
Dr Malini had conducted narco-analysis on Kantrole in two murder trails last year. The police submitted Dr Malini's reports, in which he has supposedly confessed to his crime, as part of evidence against him. The court summoned Dr Malini as a witness, but she failed to appear before the court.
"The court has been seeking her deposition since January 23. Despite the court issuing a bailable warrant against her on May 13, she did not appear before the court," fumed Kunjuraman.
"She was in the court for another case on Thursday and could have appeared for my client's hearing as well. If she was not willing, the police should have executed the warrant. However, nothing happened and she returned," he added.
Dr Malini said she was informed only on June 25 for the case on Thursday.
"I was told about my required deposition only a day before the hearing. This makes it difficult for me to schedule my appearances. I am handling cases of national importance and security. I can't leave them in the lurch," she said.
