MUMBAI: Five persons were injured due to a blast on a local train here on Saturday afternoon. The police said it was not a terror attack.

The blast occurred when the train was pulling into Sion station of Central Railway. It is suspected to be due to either a short circuit or a gas cylinder.

Railway Commissioner RK Sharma confirmed that the explosion was not due to an explosive.
Three people suffered minor injuries and were taken to Sion Hospital. Sharma said the situation was under control.

“All passengers were told to come out of the train and a complete search was conducted,” Sharma said. Local train services were stopped for some time after the blast.

The injured have been identified as Paresh Mhatre, Nasimulla, Shahbuddin, Nilesh Patel and Santosh Shinde.
