EAST TARGET: A 24-hour Bescom kiosk in the city
PIC USED FOR REPRESENTATION ONLY
Burglars dug out a Bescom Any Time Payment machine and carried it away with the cash inside.

The power distribution company has installed kiosks with such machines in various parts of the city to collect electricity bill payments.

Last Thursday, burglars struck at one such kiosk in Bommanahalli. It was housed inside the Begur municipal office premises, and had no security guard.

Since it is a 24-hour kiosk, it was not locked. Shivalingappa, field technology officer, SMPL Technologies, who sets up kiosks, said in his complaint, “I checked the machine on March 19.

Everything was fine, but that night burglars struck. The next morning the machine was missing. It had Rs 80,782 deposited by customers.”

The door of the kiosk was broken and the enclosure was damaged. The CCTV in the kiosk has recorded the crime. Madivala police are looking for the burglars.
