Lucky: Daniel Greenwood's X-ray immediately after he was shot shows the bullet stuck in his nose | A man was shot in the head at close range in a struggle with a robber, but survived after the bullet lodged in his nose.
Daniel Greenwood said he "couldn't believe he was still alive" after the shooting at a house in Manchester.
Pain
Doctors were able to remove the bullet, but Greenwood says he still suffers flashbacks, sleeplessness and headaches.
He was shot while struggling with David Cummins, who had tried to snatch a gold chain from around his neck. The pair were at the house with other people.
Cummins had threatened the others the 9mm handgun, which he put on a worktop before trying to grab Greenwood's chain. Then he and Greenwood grabbed for the gun, which went off. The bullet narrowly missed his eye and his brain and instead lodged in his nose.
But the judge who sentenced Cummins to serve at least three-and-a-half years said, "It was by good fortune he (Greenwood) was not more seriously injured than he was." |
