New Delhi: The Delhi Police has received 22 complaints of sexual harassment and exploitation against its personnel, including Station House Officer, during the last five years, according to an RTI reply.
In all the cases it was alleged that police personnel tried to sexually molest the complainants or victims, a senior police official said.
Till August this year, the Delhi Police of which the highest number of complaints was received in Outer District and one each in East and Central districts, the Delhi Police said in reply to an RTI question, received five complaints of sexual harassment against its staff.
The highest numbers of complaints eight were received in 2005 while three each in 2004 and 2006 and two in 2007. One such complaint was received in 2003.
Complaints were not only received against lower rung personnel but against an SHO also. Out of the 22 complaints, FIRs were registered only in ten while probes were going on in nine and three other complaints were dismissed, as the allegations were not found true.
However, officials say, none of the complaints was in the nature of sexual harassment at work place
