Sarah Palin didn't know Africa is a continent!
By: Agencies

New York: With the results of the US presidential elections going in favour of the Democrats, it's time for the Republicans to take stock and sharpen the daggers.

According to reports published in various US magazines, Republican aides are furious at Sarah Palin for spending thousands of dollars on an extensive wardrobe.

The report says that Sarah Palin spent "tens of thousands" more than the quoted $1,50,000 (Rs 72 lakh) on clothes for the Republican campaign. It also adds that at the GOP convention in St Paul, when aides Steve Schmidt and Mark Salter went to her hotel room to brief her, Palin walked into the room wearing only a towel, with another on her wet hair. She told them to chat with her husband Todd, adding, "I'll be back in just a minute."

Africa....duh

It is further reported that Palin did not understand that Africa was a continent, not a country, and was unaware of the countries that were in the North American Free Trade Agreement.

In separate shocking claims made in the latest issue of Newsweek magazine, the Republican vice presidential nominee was reported to have been told to buy three suits for the Republican convention, and to hire a stylist.

Instead, she went on a spending spree in upmarket stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus.

Donors shocked

Quoting unnamed sources within the McCain camp, the magazine alleges that most of the clothes were bought by a wealthy donor, who "was shocked when he got the bill."

An angry aide described the shopping spree as "Wasilla hillbillies looting Neiman Marcus from coast to coast", and predicted that the truth would eventually come out when the Republican Party audits its books.

The magazine also claimed that Palin used low ranking staffers to buy some of the clothes on their credit cards, and that up to $40,000 (Rs 19 lakh) was spent on clothes Todd.

Will first woman Solicitor General in US be an Indian?

Washington: India-born Preeta Bansal, a Harvard-educated lawyer who was part of Barack Obama's dazzling team of advisers during his election campaign, is being seen as a potential candidate for the office of the Solicitor General, a post yet to be filled by a woman in the US.

According to advisers of the Obama campaign, 42-year-old Bansal, who has advised the President-elect on foreign policy and judiciary matters, is among possible appointees to the post.
