City RTO cashes upon special numbers |

Pic/ANIL NAIK | The Road Transport Office (RTO) is making quick buck these days owing to the increasing demand of special numbers. The fad for getting a particular number is so much amongst people that they do not mind spending several lakh of rupees.
Chandrakant Kharatmal, an RTO official, says, "As the new series opens, a sum of around 18 to 22 lakh gets deposited in the treasury of the RTO the very same day." He further added that number 1 is the all time favorite amongst the people along with repetitive numbers like 3333, 9999,786 and so on.
"For acquiring the number 1, one has to pay a whooping Rs one lakh to RTO whereas to book number 1 from upcoming series, the fees swoop up to Rs three lakh," revealed a source from the RTO.
Lucky number
When asked if a number can really turn the wheel of fortune, Swetta Jumaani, a celebrated numerologist, said, "Of course. Those born on 4th and 8th must consult a numerologist to find their lucky number while the rest can refer to their birth date. |
