DISAPPOINTED: Pratibha Jha, a school teacher, did not get to see Malegaon blast accused Pragya Thakur as the magistrate authorised to grant permission is on leave | On Thursday evening, Sadhvi Pragya Thakur's sister Pratibha, a schoolteacher in Surat, and her husband Bhagwan Jha returned to Surat disappointed, after they could not meet the Sadhvi at Byculla jail yet again.
Speaking to MiD DAY Jha said they were confident that the court would listen to their plea and would grant them permission to meet Pragya. However, on reaching Mumbai they learnt that the magistrate was on leave and would only return after a week. Jha said, jail authorities did not let them meet Pragya the first time, as they did not have a formal permission letter from the Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS).
On Thursday Jha echoed the similar voice and said, "I suspect the ATS is working in connivance with the state government and they do not want us to meet Pragya."
Meanwhile Pragya continue to stay alone in a special cell of Byculla jail. According to jail sources, she is lodged in one of the four special cells adjacent to the general barrack. Her room is approximate 11 x 11 sq feet in size with a self-contained toilet.
According to a jail official a lawyer from Nasik has visited her once, but none of her relatives have come to meet her. "None of her (Pragya) relatives approached me yet," the officer said.
Pragya is to be shifted to Nashik Central Jail after she is produced before the local court in Nashik on November 17, the officer said. |
