'A bullet hit me as I ran'

LUCKY ESCAPE: Oskari Polho
was waiting to board a train to
Goa when a stray bullet pierced
his fingers
Finnish national Oskari Polho (19) was at CST on Wednesday

I was reading a newspaper and waiting to board a train to Goa from platform number 12 at the CST station when I heard gunfire from platform number 13. I ducked immediately, but my fellow commuters panicked and began running helter skelter. Fearing for my life, I started running as well when suddenly I felt something pierce my fingers. There was a stinging sensation; the pain was unbearable. A bullet had lodged in and my hand was bleeding profusely. I managed to rush out of the station; I jumped into a cab and asked the cabbie to drive me to a hospital. He stepped on the accelerator, and within minutes, I was being treated by doctors at the Bombay Hospital.

I have been on this tour since August 14 and visited Nepal and Rajasthan before I came to Mumbai. I was looking forward to making a trip to Goa, but now I just want to return to my hometown in Finland. I want to go home and erase the memories of this horrifying incident. I'm planning to get in touch with the Finnish embassy and hope that they will help me get an early fight back.
