London:

Fox Star Studios has entered into a multiple-film deal with ace producer Vipul Shah, whose latest film 'Singh is Kinng' became the top-grosser Indian film of all times.

In what has been termed as a unique marriage between the best of Bollywood and Hollywood, the deal includes development and production of a visual effects-driven fantasy action movie, a romantic comedy and a first look deal on Shah's future projects.

Under the agreement, the VFX (visual effects) film will be supported by a team of top visual effects directors from Hollywood and supervised by Fox's award-winning team, said Vijay Singh, CEO of Fox STAR Studios India Pvt Ltd.

"It is just amazing how Indian cinema has continued to reinvent itself and is today the best expression of popular Indian culture. Our relationship with Vipul is special - a shared vision to create global quality content, but with an Indian soul for Indian audiences across the world," Singh added. He also said that the company was committed to bring global strengths of Twentieth Century Fox and STAR in the development, production, distribution and marketing of Bollywood movies.

The expanding Indian film industry is expected to touch 4.4 billion dollars mark by 2012 from 2.4 billion dollars in 2007, Singh said, which provides tremendous opportunity to grow, said Singh.

Vipul Shah, whose first film as producer - 'Singh is Kinng' - grossed over Rs 150 crores worldwide, is now working on Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan starrer 'London Dreams,' again one of the biggest films in the line up for 2009.

Shah's first three directorial ventures 'Aankhein', 'Waqt' and 'Namastey London' have also done a brisk business.

Speaking about the tie-up, Vipul Shah said, "It will help produce better films with advanced technology.

Indian cinema is making a steady growth and Fox Star Studios is a player who knows about global market." "I am extremely excited to work with Fox Star Studios. I have always believed in growing and surprising my audiences with every film. This deal gives me the opportunity to develop innovative concepts and work with the best talent to create films that will appeal to audiences around the globe.

"This is the future for Indian cinema - we have to partner with the best technical and creative talent from around the world while yet keeping the Indian soul in our films intact," Shah said Admitting that there is shortage of good scripts in Bollywood, the filmmaker said, "They (Fox Star Studios) are looking for scripts to improve in quality and take it to the global market. Both cultures have their respective goals."

Vijay Singh, meanwhile, said that the Twentieth Century Fox was also planning to make films in Hindi. Paul Aiello, CEO of STAR said, "As the leading broadcaster in India, STAR fully understands the importance of partnering with inspired local talent in order to build a strong connection with the audience." Fox STAR Studios is a joint venture between Twentieth Century Fox, one of the world's largest producers and distributors of motion pictures and STAR, Asia's leading media company to produce world-class local-language films for worldwide distribution.
