Lata Mangeshkar

Lata Mangeshkar is willing to undergo knee replacement operation in at the Dinanath Mangeshkar Hospital, in Pune.

Speaking exclusively to MiD DAY, Lata said, "I am taking regular treatment. I have no problem standing or doing my routine work. I will undergo surgery if medical treatment fails."

On September 30, MiD DAY had carried a story on Lata's need for a knee surgery. Since then, her fans and wellwishers have expressed deep concern over her health and she has been getting frantic calls.

Painful

"I am fine and active. In fact, I recently recorded Jain devotional songs. I have also been traveling," said Lata, who admitted that her knee has been really painful.

However, the melody queen sounded positive about the surgery and also assured that she would not stay away from her work for any reason.

Lata's knee replacement issue became public when her brother Hridaynath Mangeshkar expressed deep concern during a function Didi Ani Mee organised to celebrate her 79th birthday at Balgandharv Rangamandir in Pune.
