"They were badly mistaken and were caught in the act. About 239 youngsters were taken for blood and urine tests and later let off. But if we find traces of drugs in the reports, they will be arrested.
Besides, we have also arrested nine people for peddling drugs at the party," said a Special Task Force official.
These nine people include Israeli DJ Technodrome around whom the event was organised. His real name is Shay Ben Haiun Simone.
The others are Kashish Malkani of Scratch Entertainment.
Rahul Ravindra Karmakar, Rajesh Talwar, Salil Romit Roy, Weighlan Britto, Samir Vaswani Shah, Salil Kothari and Anuradha Sanyal. The police are on the lookout for Gaurav Mehra from Scratch Entertainment, who was the main organiser.
Underage
MiD DAY spoke to a few youngsters who were let off after their blood and urine tests at 4 pm and found that they were between the ages of 17 and 20.
Only those who are 21 years old and above can by law attend a party where alcohol is served. But the police denied nabbing any underage youngsters at the party.
An event organiser, who did not want to be named, said, "Rave parties used to be held in the city on a large scale a long time ago, but they were stopped.
Although at regular parties, only five per cent of the people consume drugs, about 70 to 80 per cent consume them at rave or techno parties.
These days they are held under the guise of techno and electronic dance music parties. Invites are sent out through Facebook and Orkut.
There are communities, which are heavily moderated, that keep youngsters updated on secret raves."
