Biking for a cause

By: Chetan R

Bulleteer 2008, an adventurous Bullet bike expedition to the Western Ghats, is all geared to kick off next month.  And you could be a part of it.

Touted as one of the biggest expeditions and the first of its kind in Karnataka, Bulleteer 2008 Real Men on Real Bikes will have 150 Bullet enthusiasts from Bangalore heading to explore the Western Ghats on a Save Green campaign.

To take part in this expedition, interested candidates can send applications to the organisers. As many as 150 Bulleteers will finally be chosen for the event after a rigorous screening process.

"It'll be an adventurous biking," said Arvin Padmanabha. "The expedition will be a blend of passion for Bullet bikes and love towards nature."

The expedition said to be the first ever of its kind by any Bangalore Bullet bikers' club will kickstart in November.

This expedition is an initiative of Get Started and Travlife, a bullet biking and adventure club that comprises professionals and others from various walks of life.

The team that successfully completed an expedition on Bullet bikes to Leh recently, will now do it in our own state. This expedition will differ from that of Leh, as it includes exploring "unseen places" in Coorg, Chickmagalur and Kudremukh forests.

"We will explore the unexplored during our expedition," said Harikrishna, a biker. "We will also hold adventure sports including Bullet bike racing during the expedition," he added.

Camping

As part of the Save Green campaign, the bikers will camp in forests, and sensitise tribals and locals on conserving forests and wildlife reserve through interactive sessions.

All aspirants are required to submit documents related to vehicles, insurance and fitness in advance. Alcohol is strictly prohibited throughout the expedition three days and two nights.

Candidates will be allowed to participate in Bulleteer 2008, only after thorough screening of documents.

"We are serious about the selection procedure," said Harikrishna. "This will help us freeze the number of participants to 150 and help concentrate on logistical support for riders."

"As exploring new places and educating people is included this year, the trip would be exciting. And long rides on Bullets are always thrilling," said Arvin.
