Indian test skipper Anil Kumble today dismissed speculation about quitting test cricket. As speculation mounted whether he is also hanging up his boots, Anil Kumble refused to answer questions whether he would be retiring after the current series against Australia saying he will announce any such decision when he takes it.
"I will not not say yes or no. I will let you know when I play my last series. Let the players decide when they want to go," he told a pre-match press conference.
However, he said this would be his last match in his home city, Bangalore.
Speculation about his retirement heightened this morning in the wake of his remarks in a syndicated column in newspapers today that it would be his last test match in Bangalore, especially in the context of Sourav Ganguly's announcement yesterday.
Asked specifically what his plans were in the context of his remarks and whether he would be he announcing his retirment after the series, Kumble shot back "I don't know which newspaper you are referring to. There are millions of newspapers in India and a lot is written in them."
38-year-old Kumble, who had already announced his retirement from one-day cricket, has been particularly angry with the media for they way it had speculated on the future of the seniors.
Last week, he lashed out at the media saying the seniors should be treated with certain respect and they should not not be rubbished.
