End of a life: The building of the Sinhgad Business School from where 27-year-old Snehal Potnis jumped to her death

A 27-year-old receptionist, Snehal Potnis allegedly committed suicide by plunging from the 9th floor of Sinhgad Business School near Karve Road. Potnis was an employee at Ramgiri Developers.

According to police sources, Snehal was a divorcee and separated from her husband in August. She is survived by a nine-year-old son.

The police said that Potnis left her office at around 2.30 pm after informing her colleagues. The incident took place at around 4 pm. Potnis's office is just 15 minutes drive from the Sinhgad Business School.

Potnis has joined Ramgiri Developers just four months back. According to a security guard on duty, Potnis approached him and asked where the business school was located.

Without doubting her intentions, he showed her the way. Within 15 minutes the security guard deployed at another gate heard a loud thud.

Nilesh Dhumal, a security guard at Ramgiri Developers along with other guards rushed to the porch canopy, on the second floor. Dhumal said, "She fell on the cement arc of the building and was  lying in a pool of blood, but as she showed signs of life we rushed her to Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital. The doctors at the hospital declared her dead."

Jayvant Deshmukh, police inspector told MiD DAY that it took a long time to identify the lady. The police noticed a phone number written on her hand, it was only after dialing the number they found it was the number of Ramgiri Developers. The police are investigating the case.

The motive behind the suicide is still unknown.
