Asian Film Festival to showcase Mahak

City-based director Kranti Kanade, who is a student of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) is showcasing his internationally acclaimed film Mahak at the Sixth Asian Film Festival being organised between October 16 and 23 in Pimpri-Chinchwad.



The festival is jointly organised by Aashay Films and Indira School of Communication in association with the Asian Film Foundation, Mumbai.

"This year Zenith Asia Honour is being given to noted actor Naseeruddin Shah," said Virendra Chitrav, director of the festival.

Speaking about Mahak, Chitrav said, "This film has     bagged the Best Film award at Hollywood's ARPA International Film Festival and Best Family Film award at Hustan's International Film Festival. This is the first public screening of Mahak in India."

This film is shot in Pune and is about a little girl's journey towards self-realisation. It questions conventions and looks at the world to examine the rights of children, informed Chitrav.

The festival has 40 exclusive films from Asian countries. "In addition there will be an off beat section devoted to some of the off beat Bollywood films including Mumbai Meri Jaan, Welcome to Sajjanpur and Tare Zameen Par. The recipient of Dada Saheb Phalke award, Tapan Sinha's film Aatithi will also be screened," he  added.
