By: MiD Day Correspondent

Three Delhi Police officials and an advocate were arrested on Friday on bribery charges, an Anti-Corruption Bureau official said.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau had conducted a sting operation to collect evidence against the advocate and the three policemen who belonged to the Crime Branch of Delhi Police.

An ACB official said the advocate played the role of a middleman and struck deals between the policemen and people who wanted to bribe them.

Few months ago, Gopal Krishna Agarwal a resident of old Delhi, was arrested in a murder charge along with 9 others.

Agarwal's son Abhinav Kishan Agarwal wanted his father to be released. In order to release him he contacted inspector K G Tyagi, sub-inspector Mukesh and ASI Rajbeer Singh. Later he came to know that they are ready to release his father if he pays them Rs 27 lakh.

Advocate Ravindar chadha of Tees Hazari court was also involved in the nexus.

He contacted the Anti-Corruption Bureau about this complaining about the officers. Over a period of 10 month the ACB conducted string operation against the officers and caught them red-handed.

A case of corruption, abuse of authority, extortion and conspiracy has been registered against them and all four are now under arrest.
