Anandita had been working with DAKC for four years. Police sources said, Pinto had a crush on her. He also allegedly threatened her over the phone and chased her to her home in Ghansoli. He, allegedly, had even threatened to kill himself if she did not respond favourably to his overtures. Sources said, Anandita had complained to her superiors who had warned Pinto after which he went on leave in the last week of September.
B D Sonawane, senior inspector, Turbhe police station, said, "Preliminary inquiry suggests he had been chasing her for over a year now. We will get more details once we nab him."
2 am visit
H Siddique, secretary of Blossom society, where Anandita lived on rent with her mother and a four-year-old paralytic child since February, said, "Her mother had told me that a boy had visited her flat around 2 am and threatened them, and that he called them up often late in the night. She requested us not to allow anybody in after late hours."
He added, "I had suggested that they complain to the police but they said they had already complained to the company."
Anandita's uncle, Sitaram Banerjee told MiD DAY, "She was yet to receive her first salary after she was promoted to the post of assistant HR manager. Her father retired from the Durgapur Steel Plant and lives in Kolkata and her elder brother works as an engineer in Ranchi."
Reliance Communications representatives told MiD DAY that the company was extending their full cooperation in
the investigations into the murder.
