Students develop car that runs 180 km/litre

By: Agencies
A group of students have developed a car that can cover an amazing 180 km on just one litre of petrol. The team of eight mechanical engineering students of R V College of Engineering, Bangalore, have designed and developed an aero-dynamic, light weight prototype with a low power 97 cc generator engine of two horse power (HP).

The Project Garuda-RVCE Supermileage Car has an air-cooled engine with molten sized recumbent rear and two front wheels weighing 600 gm each, said team leader Nishant Sarawgi.

The fuel efficiency of the car under test conditions demonstrated a mileage of 180 km per litre. The 55 kg single-person car is 10-feet long, 2.5-feet wide and high and has to be driven in a reclining position, he said. The car was made at a cost of Rs 5.5 lakh.
