Mohammed Rafiqh, 26, was a chauffeur of most-wanted Riyaz Bhatkal and a member of the Indian Mujahideen (IM), terror suspects revealed to Ullal police recently.
Ullal police, who are questioning Rafiqh, said that since Rafiqh was moving closely with Riyaz Bhatkal, he knew the ins and outs of the IM. "We hope to get a clearer picture of the IM set-up and its plans after completing questioning," said police.
The police, who are also questioning Fakir Bawa (46), said that Bawa was a key member who organised meetings in and around Chickmagalur and Mangalore. He was in Dubai for the last six years and then moved to Indonesia, where he worked with an NGO.
He returned to hometown Ucchil, in Udupi, where he invited key members of IM, including Riyaz Bhatkal, Yaseen, Bawa, Bada Bhai, Chota Bhai and Moosa. "They would hold frequent meetings," they said. |
